This comprehensive barista training course introduces the key skills and equipment required to properly prepare espresso beverages. Coffee professionals and enthusiasts alike will build a solid foundation of barista skills in this in-person Specialty Coffee Association course.
We’ll define espresso, discuss the 5 elements of espresso preparation, and demonstrate our recommended barista routine and espresso grinder adjustment method. We’ll also discuss our recommended milk steaming process, key aspects of dairy and plant-based milks, and recommended drink recipes and assembly sequence. Along the way, we'll discuss frequently missed or incorrectly performed steps as well as various alternative approaches.
This course also includes four hours of hands-on learning time in our Coffee Skills Campus Barista lab. We’ll step behind the espresso bar to practice the steps needed to create excellent espresso, adjust an espresso grinder, steam and texture milk for beverages, and keep an espresso station clean.

Certificate:
Attendees who complete this Specialty Coffee Association CSP Course and pass the online written exam will receive the SCA Barista Skills Foundation Certificate. Course fees include all exam fees.
Prerequisites:
No prior experience is necessary, completion of SCA Introduction to Coffee is strongly recommended prior to this course.
